Explainer Video - Yohji Yamamoto
This is an explainer video for fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto. In the animation, I introduced his design initiation experience, main concept and design style. I created a collage-style visualization of the narration by understanding the content and mood of his presentation.
Since his style is powerful and unique, I designed the overall style to be a collage style with a handmade flavour and focused on the cool and independent characteristics when making the video.
PROCESS
To align the video's style with Yohji's fashion design style, I gathered inspiration from his fashion photographs and official website, as well as collage animations with heavy textural elements.
The colour palette I chose is black and white based, with other colours as emphasis for the graphics, to control the overall calm and collected atmosphere while making the video vivid at the same time.
Inspiration & Moodboard
While making the storyboard, I mainly focused on visualizing the content into elements that can be related to fabric, tailor and expressive designs that can emphasize the feature of fearless, unconventional and powerful femininity.
I neglected part of the storyboard content for efficiency since the first half of the content is already able to depict the narrative.
