Animated Quote - A Letter From Afar
Moved by the last words of the character Grimmer in the anime "Monster" before he sacrificed his life, I visualized the images and emotions I felt in my head when I heard those words and made them into an animated quote.
"My emotions got lost somewhere inside me. They’re like a letter I sent to myself…that took decades to arrive."
Within a piece of solemn and silent darkness that welcomed an end, the letter of emotions finally exploded, with joy, fury, sorrow and happiness. He can't enjoy the taste of them any longer, but their flashes, are beautiful.
PROCESS
The explosion of emotions reminded me of shooting stars. They glow brightly, then they fall in a moment. I searched for references to the stars, and chose the most diverse but balanced color palette for the explosion. I wish to make the first half of the video in a calm and simplified graphic style, to emphasize the upcoming climax.
Inspiration & Moodboard
I imagined a first-person point of view of someone walking closer to the sea following the sound of the wave in the dark, then the wave brought the letter to the person. As the letter got closer, it exploded and brightened up the darkness with colours, but end up turned into a drop of tear of felicity.
